In addition to serving as a preaching minister, Alan is also a shepherd for the Newnan church, where he and his wife Lanita have been serving since 2013. He also works as a flight attendant for Frontier airlines. Alan taught high school and college for 20 years and has been in the airline industry for the past six years. He has preached for churches in Tennessee, Texas, and Georgia for nearly 40 years.

Alan holds a B.A. in Biblical Languages from David Lipscomb College (1984), an M.A. in Missions from ACU (1992), and an M.Div. (1989) and D.Min. (1997), also from ACU. Alan and Lanita have been married for 37 years and have two sons, Levi (28), who lives in Nashville, and Josiah (19), who lives in Newnan.
